I have worked as a Child Welfare Specialist for almost 3 years. Before that I worked in many daycares and as a nanny. I have a bachelors in Psychology and many certifications in childhood trauma, domestic violence, child advocacy, etc. I am extremely passionate about informing others and especially professionals that work with children (hospitals and schools) that navigate trauma informed practices. In my current career I have daily experience with children that are in foster care or emergency custody of the state. These children often need IEP plans to navigate their triggers and adapt their environment to a safe and stable place for them to be. I have seen first hand how schools often add to children’s trauma and push them further back in education levels, recovery, and even labeling the child a “bad kid” or “someone who with never get anywhere.” I want to focus on how to motivate children in wanting to advocate for themselves and teach professionals how to encourage healing and meeting the children where they are at in life.
